MORE SENSITIVE LEFT HEMICORPS: WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

During our consultations, we regularly observe an asymmetry in the feeling of pain between the right and left sides of the patient. Why? What can explain such an observation? The Clinique de la Croix d'Or returns to this curious phenomenon.

During laser sessions or facial injections for example, this feeling is common regardless of the patient's dominant hand. A Dutch study seeking to improve patient comfort during aesthetic procedures evaluated the pain perceived during botox or hyaluronic acid injections. Despite gentler techniques, finer needles and quality products, the asymmetry still persists. Right-handed people and women are the categories that feel this asymmetrical pain the most. This is explained by the positioning of the pain center at the level of the right cortex, and by a lower pain tolerance threshold. Do not hesitate to initiate a procedure on the patient's left side!
