THE LIPOSUCTION

This treatment is intended for small or medium-sized fatty areas. The operation can concern people with a normal BMI and overweight people. In case of excessive obesity, the operation may be compromised. It is up to the cosmetic surgeon to decide on the feasibility of the procedure during the first appointment. The after-effects are generally proportional to the amount of fat removed. Discomfort may be felt a few days after the procedure, without any real pain except in sensitive areas such as the hips for example. Edema and bruising are not uncommon. Moderate compression is applied to the treated areas (girdle or panty) to improve comfort. It is recommended to keep this compression for at least 15 days. On day 3, lymphatic drainage physiotherapy can improve the after-effects and limit post-operative edema. Sport is possible after a minimum period of 3 weeks. We systematically see patients who have undergone surgery again within 15 days to assess the results and make any necessary adjustments. The effect obtained appears after 3 weeks and will be fully effective after 4-6 months. The results obtained are long-lasting because the fat cells are permanently removed. When weight is gained, the remaining fat cells may increase in size but there is no new production of adipocytes.
